It's
hard to believe that 2009 is almost over - this year has gone
by at an unbelievably rapid pace! Ed's band, SOUL
FX, is planning on recording some of Ed's new tunes next month
(December 2009), and hope to release a new demo CD very soon!
With luck, we'll record even more tracks in early 2010 to
complete Ed's first soulful jazz CD! Check out the Soul
FX link for some new pictures of the band, and more news on
the new demo CD, to be released hopefully in January of 2010!
Ed's new book is for sale on
this website, and you may preview it on the Publications link
on this site. If you're interested in purchasing a copy
of his book, "A Practice Guide for the Contemporary
Saxophonist", you can simply email Ed at reedsman @ gmail
dot com. It costs $16, plus $2 for shipping and handling. Also, you can purchase Ed's first CD, "Ed Peffer & Express" at CD Baby
website and also on I-Tunes.
There have been some losses to the
musical world this year, and I've had to deal with the loss of a great
friend and incredible musician, Mike Alarcon. You will
be greatly missed, Mike! He passed away one day before
our Soul FX gig at the end of June 2009. I wrote a tribute
piece for him, "Daily Grind", and you can look for it on our
upcoming demo CD in late December 2009. Also, I would
like to welcome 2 new members to my band, Joe Partise on piano
and Alton Corotan on drums. Check out the Soul FX link
for more details.
Ed continues to teach the jazz
ensemble at Irvine Valley College, and freelancing with groups
such as Big Band 2000, Big Box of Men, Pete Jacobs, and Barela.
Ed's CD "Ed Peffer & Express" can be purchased
through www.cdbaby.com.
